Premier’s name muddied by association

Oops! When I saw the November 22 headline; “Redford asks for help to tackle oilsands” my mind jumped to wondering what Premier Alison Redford’s problem might be. I was relieved to see that the article was reporting Hollywood actor Robert Redford’s impressions of the oil sands.  His knowledge of the oil sands seemed gleaned from a flight over northern Alberta via Google Earth.

I’m usually impressed by the Herald’s ability to come up with snappy headlines. I’m disappointed that this one unnecessarily splattered some mud on our Premier. Other newspaper’s headlines for this story carefully identified Robert Redford as the instigator.

Anyway, a subsequent poll indicated Herald readers rejected Robert’s reflections on the oilsands by a factor of ten to one. Perhaps that makes up for the Herald’s careless headline.

Yours truly,

Duane Pendergast
