Dear Editor,

It would be wise for the PM to initiate reconsideration of the relationship between greenhouse gas emissions and the climate catastrophe alleged to result from them. Of course it will take years to bring the public and policy makers back to a realistic and sober understanding of the issue.

In the meantime our government should be identifying and implementing any and all means to retract Canada’s commitment to the ineffective Kyoto Protocol. Canada. It is well known it is simply impossible for Canada to meet the Kyoto commitment short of severe economic hardship such as occurred with the collapse of the former Soviet Union or the purchase of emission reduction credits from other countries.

Canada has been negotiated into the position of prime financier for global Kyoto initiatives. It is long past time for her to recognize that and get out.

Yours truly,

Duane Pendergast
