In the Doldrums?
Dear Editor,
Lori Strothard (Hurry up and wait, Calgary Herald, October 11, A36) "was very
impressed to learn the C-train is powered by wind energy". Lori didn't
understand "why the train seemed to wait such a long time at each station".
No doubt the wind had stopped blowing in southern Alberta where the wind
turbines are located. The train was becalmed till the breeze picked up so it
could continue on its way. Sailors are intimately familiar with this
characteristic of wind energy. Sit back and relax Lori. Learn to enjoy the new
harmony with nature.
